About
I'm Dave Mercuri. I make films in Denver, and I run them like programs — because that's the part most productions are missing.
dave mercuriThe story
Here's what twenty years in aerospace actually gave me: I know how to keep a hard project from falling apart, and I know that the plan exists to protect the creative, not to replace it.
Passion turbo-charges every skill you have and every one you haven't learned yet. I'd just rather it not also have to cover for a missing schedule. A director should be spending their attention on performance and frame, not on whether the location is confirmed or the day is going to make. That's my job.
So I came at film from the other direction. I learned the craft the slow way — on other people's sets, as gaffer, G&E, swing, sound, AD, script — while bringing the discipline that twenty years of programs where failure wasn't an option tends to beat into you. Both halves matter. Neither one is enough on its own.
Who this is for
You have a vision, and you want someone to protect it from the schedule.
You only care about the number. Or you only care about the shot. Those two end the same way.
